dvgmao — CMMS extension for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

dvgmao, a certified Business Central extension for maintenance management (CMMS)

dvgmao is a native AL extension on top of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. It extends the native machine card with the fields a real CMMS needs and adds dedicated tables for inspections, spares, work orders, subcontractors and incidents. Postings flow into purchasing, projects, production orders and fixed assets, so every hour and every invoice lands in the right financial bucket. Running on Business Central also means Power Platform, Power BI, Outlook and Teams come for free.

In short, dvgmao runs maintenance on three pieces that fit together:

  • The masters: machines, spares and technicians

A card for every machine, with its status, location, components and full history. A card for every spare part, with minimum stock, linked purchases and replenishment. And a card for every technician, with two distinct roles: the manager who assigns the tasks and the technician who carries them out and records them from a phone or a tablet.

  • The loop: from the alert to the work order, and from there to the history

Scheduled maintenance generates its own tasks and incidents raised on the shop floor open their repair order. Both end up in the same work order, which the technician fills in on the move with hours, materials and technical documentation. Once closed, everything lands in the asset history: what was done to it and what it cost.

  • The three types of maintenance, in one system

Preventive maintenance gets ahead of the failure with automatically scheduled inspections and cleaning. Predictive maintenance watches equipment condition in real time to act on data and cut unexpected breakdowns. Corrective maintenance turns the incident into a repair order to restore service as fast as possible.

Who it is for

Who this maintenance software is for

dvgmao is a CMMS built for companies that manufacture or that maintain other people's installations. Ask us about your industry.

  • Installation maintenance companies — servicing their customers' thermal, electrical, refrigeration and fire protection installations, under contracts and agreed service levels.
  • Engineering and installation firms — that maintain what they installed and have to prove compliance with certificates.
  • Manufacturers with a machine fleet — food and beverage, chemicals, plastics and rubber, metalworking, automotive, pharmaceutical, medical devices and energy.
  • Hospitals and healthcare centres — with strict rules on climate control, fire protection, medical gases, lifts and autoclaves, and mandatory audits.
  • Hospitality and retail chains — with many sites and similar installations: inspection templates by chain, site and system.
  • Property and facility managers — with boilers, lifts and fire protection, plus a portal so the owner can see what was done and when the next inspection is due.
  • Renewable energy — operators of solar, wind or biomass plants with maintenance plans across distributed installations.
What does dvgmao solve?

dvgmao adds the maintenance control features Business Central does not have

CMMS for manufacturers

I maintain my own plant

  • Maintenance lives between spreadsheets, paper and the head of the plant manager: when someone leaves, the know-how leaves with them.
  • Too many incidents and machine stoppages because tasks are not followed up or spare parts are out of stock.
  • No traceability of what maintaining each machine really costs.
CMMS for service companies

I service my customers

  • You manage dozens of customers with different installations, each with its own contract, service level and regulatory obligations, and everything sits in spreadsheets.
  • Your technicians on the road cannot see the customer's equipment, and your customers cannot see what has been done or when the next mandatory inspection is due.
  • You meet your service levels but cannot prove it with data: invoices, signed job sheets and certificates live in separate folders.

How it works

How the CMMS works: from registering the asset to the KPIs in six steps

  1. Register the asset

Create the asset card with criticality, location, components and financial data. Attach drawings and manuals.

  2. Define its maintenance plan

Schedule periodic inspections (preventive), inspection routes (predictive), corrective ready to fire on incident.

  3. dvgmao generates work orders

Manually, automatically or with supervised automation. Assigns technician, resources and spare parts.

  4. Technician executes from a tablet

Sees the task list, instructions and components involved. Posts hours, consumption and notes on the spot.

  5. Production incidents create work orders

A breakdown on the shop floor turns into a repair order in real time inside dvgmao.

  6. You watch the KPIs

Asset availability, real cost per asset, MTBF/MTTR, preventive plan compliance. Inside Business Central reports.

Before / after

A CMMS outside the ERP versus a CMMS inside Business Central

The difference is not the feature list: it is where the data lives. This is what changes the day maintenance stops being a separate program.

  • Before A database separate from the ERP.

After The same data as your ERP: customers, items, assets, technicians and costs.

  • Before Integration through middleware or files that someone has to watch over.

After No middleware: a native extension certified on Microsoft AppSource.

  • Before Customers, spare parts and suppliers created twice, in two systems.

After Every customer, spare part, supplier and technician is created once.

  • Before Stock and spare part costs arrive late and never quite match.

After The spare part consumed reduces stock the moment it is posted.

  • Before Invoicing a job sheet means exporting and importing between programs.

After The service shipment is a standard Business Central document: traceable and billable.

  • Before Maintaining the integration is a cost that comes back every year.

After Microsoft maintains the core and Davisa maintains the extension.

  • Before Maintenance dashboards live outside the business dashboards.

After Role Centers, indicators and Power BI on the same data as the rest of the company.

Why dvgmao

What the maintenance software dvgmao adds to standard Business Central

  • Inspection table and periodic tasks

Business Central has no inspection table. dvgmao adds the periodic-task list with dates, actions, statuses and owners.

  • Planning by intervention type

BC doesn't differentiate preventive, corrective and predictive. dvgmao plans each one — manual, automatic or supervised-automatic.

  • Maintenance dashboard with workloads

BC doesn't show team or per-operator workload. dvgmao adds a panel to follow tasks by group or individual.

  • Tablet-based time posting

BC has no mobile posting view against the asset card. dvgmao gives the technician a tablet with tasks, instructions and components.

  • Subcontractor invoice traceability

BC doesn't link subcontractor invoices to the asset. dvgmao traces every invoice, hour and spare against the machine, project or production order.

  • Asset availability and alerts

BC doesn't compute real availability or trigger plan-deviation alerts. dvgmao measures availability and notifies before deviations become downtime.

dv* ecosystem

Fits the rest of the Davisa catalogue

  • dvproduction

MES and shop-floor planning. Incidents raised on a production order create the work order in dvgmao automatically.

  • dvquality

Quality, calibration and supplier qualification. If equipment needs scheduled calibration, dvquality and dvgmao orchestrate it together.

  • dvproject

Project management. Maintenance hours that actually belong to a project are traced to the cent.

  • dvgtime

Time tracking and workforce management. The hours a technician clocks in and the hours booked to a work order stop being counted twice.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about dvgmao CMMS software

Do I need CMMS software if I already have Business Central?

Business Central keeps your machines as fixed assets and little else: it does not schedule inspections by maintenance type, it does not balance workloads between technicians, it has no checklists and it does not calculate equipment availability. If your maintenance is just calling someone when something breaks, the standard is enough. As soon as you have an inspection plan, spare parts to control or customers to answer to, you need CMMS software — and the cheap way is for it to live inside the ERP you already use, not in a separate program.

How is a CMMS different from an ERP maintenance module?

A standalone CMMS lives outside the ERP: it has its own database and has to be integrated so that stock, costs and invoicing add up. A standard ERP maintenance module usually falls short: it records interventions, but it does not plan by maintenance type, has no checklists, no technician workloads and no equipment availability. The dvgmao extension is the third way: full CMMS capability inside Business Central, on the same customer, item and accounting data.

What do I need before installing dvgmao?

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central up and running (cloud or on-premise) and your basic ERP master data: customers, vendors, items, warehouses and accounting. dvgmao installs on top without touching your existing customisations: it is a certified extension from Microsoft AppSource, not custom development on your database.

Does it work on cloud and on-premise?

Yes. dvgmao runs on cloud and on-premise on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, on every version Microsoft supports. Technicians work from the browser, the phone or a tablet, with no separate app to install.

Does it work as maintenance software for several companies or customers?

Yes, and this is where it shows most. A maintenance company can run all of its customers' installations in the same system, each with its own contract and service level, with the guarantee that each customer only sees their own. And the end customer can log in to check their installations, raise a request and download their certificates without anyone emailing them.

Which types of maintenance does dvgmao cover?

All three: preventive, with inspections, cleaning and checks scheduled automatically into work orders; predictive, watching equipment condition to get ahead of the failure with data; and corrective, turning the incident into a repair order and measuring what it cost. All on the same machine, spare part and technician master data.

What support do I get after go-live?

Personal attention from the Davisa team and support blocks you can contract when you need to go beyond the standard warranty. You talk to a Spanish partner with more than twenty years on Business Central: your contact understands your plant and your machines.

Which industries is this maintenance software used in?

Manufacturing (animal feed, biotechnology, general manufacturing), industrial maintenance service companies and installation operators. Reference customers include EVA Group, Lipidos Toledo, Proteo Biotech and SAINSA.
